Area firefighters fought a timber fire on about 80 acres off La. 358 and Houston Richard Road on Thursday. About 20 firefighers and at least half dozen vehicles were involved in fighting the fire in 100-plus heat. Fire District 3 Capt. Adam Roberie, at the scene, said firefighters had been at the site on and off since Monday. There were no injuries from the fire. No structure were involved. The site of the fire is about 15 miles east of Eunice and 6.5 miles north of Church Point. Ashley Rodrigue, public affairs director for the State Fire Marshal’s Office, said in an email that a warning citation concerning the burn ban was issued on Thursday, but it was unclear who was given the citation.
