The 22nd anniversary of the 911 terrorists attacks was solemnly honored, recognized and remembered during an In Honor and Remembrance ceremony sponsored by the Woodmen Life Chapter 243.
The VFW Post 8971 and the American Legion Post 243 chapter also hosted the event.
A small crowd gathered together Monday evening at the Eunice Circle Park.
The Boy Scouts Troop 425 performed a flag raising ceremony. Those troop members were Donald Babino, Caleb David, Devan Joyce, Caden Schoeffler, and Noah LeJeune. The Troop Master is Matthew Schoeffler.
The Rev. Weston Weaver, executive pastor of New Hope Fellowship gave the invocation. Randy Aguillard sang The Battle Hymn of the Republic.
Prayers and special comments were presented by special guests. Some of those included, Donnie Fontenot, the VFW Post 8971 commander, Mayor Scott Fontenot, Eunice Police Chief Kyle LeBouef, Eunice Fire Chief Chaise Brown, and Woodmen Life President Evelyn Stringer.
All of Eunice’s first responders present which included firefighters, policemen, and veterans were recognized and honored during the program.
