Presidential primary election scheduled March 23

The Presidential Preference Primary is scheduled on March 23 and it will be closed primary meaning only Democrats and Republicans can vote in their respective party’s primary, according to St. Landry Parish Registrar of Voters Byron Stelly. All voters will be eligible to vote in any municipal, special or proposition election if within its jursdiction. The deadline to make any changes, in-person and by mail, to a registration is Feb. 21 and March 2 using geauxvote.com. Early voting for the election will be held March 9 to 16 except for Sunday, March 10. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is March 19 by 4:30 p.m (other than military and overseas voters). You can request an absentee ballot online through our Voter Portal or in writing through your Registrar of Voters Office. The deadline for a registrar of voters to receive a voted absentee ballot is March 22 by 4:30 p.m. (other than military and overseas voters).
