PUBLIC NOTICE
Charles Jagneaux, St. Landry Parish Clerk of Court hereby gives public notice for New Commissioner Class for any registered voter that would like to become an election commissioner.
Qualifications for commissioners are:
1. Be a qualified voter, not entitled to assistance in voting and does not require use of audio ballot;
2. Can be 17 years old in 12th grade;
3. Must not be a candidate in the election or a child, child’s spouse, brother, brother’s spouse, sister, sister’s spouse, parent, spouse, or parents of the spouse of candidate in the precinct where you are serving.
4. Not have been convicted of an election offense; Chapter 10 of the Louisiana Election Code.
5. Not a law enforcement officer;
The classes will be as follows:
Saturday- July 20, 2024, at 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the St. Landry Parish Council
Building 108 W. Bellevue Street, located on the Courthouse Square Opelousas, Louisiana.
THESE CLASSES ARE WALK IN, upon completion of the test, drop the test in DROP OFF BOX, and please exit the building. We ask that you please do not converse before, during, or after the testing.
If you are selected to serve in a Primary Election you also have the right to serve in the General Election. Every election a commissioner serves in he/she will receive $200.00 for that election provided you have attended the pre-election class before every election. Commissioners are selected before every Primary Election.
