A voter turnout greater than the 69% experienced four years ago in the presidential race is anticipated by Byron Stelly, St. Landry Parish registrar of voters.
About 25% of the parish’s 58,117 registered voters cast ballots by Wednesday, he stated.
Early voting ended with 14,775 voters casting ballots by Tuesday compared to 13,575 four years ago.
Perhaps driving the voter interest is the presidential race between Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican former President Donald Trump.
Polls will open on Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters are required to show a picture identification.
