— First Baptist Church of Eunice is honored as the Outstanding Non-Profit “With a mission rooted in faith and outreach, it has partnered with local schools, provided meals for senior citizens, assisted local athletes, and supported foster children through donations and mentorship. They are there when the community needs them, from organizing food drives for the local food bank to aiding the homeless in times of inclement weather. Their heart for service shines in their partnerships with other local organizations, including health centers, pregnancy support services, and programs fighting food insecurity.
“As a hub of community events, they host concerts, fun runs, and gatherings that bring people together. They even work beyond borders, extending their compassion and support globally through their role as a regional hub for Operation Christmas Child.”
— Katie Richard is honored as the Humanitarian of the Year. “Nearly a decade ago, she saw a profound need among children in her classroom — young students facing food insecurity over the weekends. From this realization, she created a lifeline: a nonprofit that now serves over 100 children each week. Every Friday, her organization provides “Belly Bags,” packed with easily accessible, nutritious foods, to ensure these children have sustenance through the weekend.
But her impact reaches far beyond food. She has inspired her own students to participate, involving them in packing and delivering the bags, teaching empathy, and building a legacy of care and connection. Through her leadership, this initiative has grown into a beacon of hope, now recognized with the prestigious BBB Good Neighbor Award for its incredible outreach across Acadiana.”
— Lakeview Park & Beach is recognized as the Small Business of the Year, “Once a cherished place for dances and celebrations, this property had fallen into disrepair, its charm nearly forgotten. But in 2009, a devoted team of siblings with a shared passion for Acadiana’s heritage saw its potential and poured their hearts into revitalizing it. What was once a fading memory is now a vibrant hub, alive with the spirit of Louisiana’s culture and hospitality.
Guided by a mission to Preserve Acadiana’s Past, this business has become much more than a destination; it’s a sanctuary of shared memories, laughter, and Cajun tradition. Through their deep-rooted values of Joyfully Serving Others, Authentic Experiences, and Family Focus, they have created meaningful experiences that celebrate Acadiana’s heritage, bridging generations and fostering community bonds.”
— Frey Construction is honored as the Midsize Business of the Year. “Starting in the aggregate and dirt service industry, this company has grown over the years to specialize in residential, commercial, and industrial site preparation, serving multiple regions across the southern United States. Their expansion into oil and gas services, utility line installation for municipalities, and waste management reflects their drive for excellence and versatility. But what truly sets them apart is their dedication to their community. Whether it’s through city projects or other local endeavors, they’re known for their selfless contributions, working tirelessly to improve the lives of others without seeking recognition.”
— Louisiana State University Eunice is recognized as the Large Business of the Year. “Welcoming nearly 3,600 students this semester, this institution is not only expanding but also breaking records in applications, credit hours, and online enrollment. These achievements reflect the tireless efforts of its faculty and staff, whose passion for empowering students fuels its mission and makes education accessible to thousands of individuals from all over Louisiana.
“But this institution’s commitment goes far beyond academics. As an engaged member of the Eunice Rotary and Chamber of Commerce, it actively invests in community well-being, supporting local causes, championing beloved events, and creating life-changing opportunities for our youth. With a forward-thinking approach, it’s breaking ground on a new baseball stadium, re-imagining its science building into a STEAM Innovation Center, and driving development as an economic force for the Cajun Prairie.”
— Kip Bertrand is honored with the Legend in Leadership Award. “From his role as President and CEO in local banking institutions to his work as an attorney, he has dedicated decades to strengthening the financial and social foundations of our area.
His impact extends deeply into Eunice, where he is a dedicated and active member of the Eunice Chamber of Commerce, investing in the community on multiple levels. As a former President of the Eunice Rotary Club, a devoted participant in the St. Landry Parish Chamber of Commerce, and a valued member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, he brings personal passion and commitment to every initiative. Whether volunteering, mentoring young bankers, or serving as a Confirmation Sponsor, he has profoundly touched the lives of those around him with his wisdom, support, and compassionate heart. His mentorship and guidance are woven into the fabric of local organizations, exemplifying a leadership style that leaves an indelible mark on the community he cherishes.”
— Holly’s Hobbies is recognized for Best Social Media Presence. “What began as a simple hobby of making hairbows, sold at local markets and vendor events, turned into something extraordinary in 2012 when she began sharing her work on Facebook. Orders started coming in from all over, and this encouragement led her to officially turn her hobby into a business. Expanding to embroidery and eventually opening a storefront in 2015, her business continued to grow, bringing customers from near and far.
Through the power of social media, she built a brand that customers love and trust. With consistent posts, flash sales, and heartfelt stories, she didn’t just create a following; she fostered a community. Her platform isn’t just for promoting products—it’s a space that celebrates her hometown, connects with loyal customers, and brings in new visitors who come to Eunice to shop, not only supporting her store but also boosting the entire local economy.”
— Alicia Mire is honored as the Emerging Leader. “In her role as Tourism and Main Street Director for Eunice and as a Community Liaison for St. Landry Parish, she has been a driving force behind the rebranding and growth of beloved community events like the Cajun Mardi Gras Festival, drawing tourism and fostering economic growth that benefits everyone. Her strategic insight and love for the community have led her to serve on the Chamber of Commerce Board and actively contribute to the Eunice Rotary, where she continually seeks new ways to improve the quality of life for all who call Eunice home.
“Her commitment to fostering opportunity extends to her work with the LSU Eunice Foundation, and her recent appointment to the Louisiana Economic Development Advisory Board underscores her dedication to statewide progress. “
— Michael Fruge is named Farmer of the Year. “... a second-generation rice, soybean, and crawfish farmer from Eunice, Louisiana, whose remarkable contributions have left a lasting impact on both agriculture and the health-conscious consumer market. Returning to his family farm after a successful career, he envisioned bringing a high-quality, specialty rice product to the community and beyond. Collaborating with the LSU AgCenter, he helped develop Frontière, a high-protein, low-glycemic rice variety, specifically valued for its benefits for those managing blood sugar levels. This variety became the foundation of Parish Rice, launched in 2019, which quickly gained national recognition for its quality and health advantages, now available in over 1,600 stores across 15 states.
Managing a diverse 1,400-acre farm, he exemplifies both agricultural skill and commitment to sustainable practices, balancing crop production with the environmental needs of Louisiana’s landscape. Serving as president of the Central Louisiana Rice Growers’ Association, he has become a strong advocate for the rice industry, promoting both innovation and responsible farming.”
— Susan Vigee is Chamber Business Person of the Year. “As a valued Chamber board member for the past three years, she has been instrumental in advancing programs that support local businesses and foster economic vitality. Her influence and expertise have been a driving force, and as the Chamber’s President-elect for 2025, she is ready to lead with a strong vision rooted in community values and progress.
Her devotion to Eunice extends beyond her professional role; she co-directs the Eunice Women’s Retreat, offering support to local women, and tirelessly champions the revitalization of Downtown Eunice. Her unwavering commitment to the Chamber’s mission and her impactful service to the community make her a deserving role model and a true asset to Eunice.”
— Erika Fontenot is honored with the Outstanding Chamber Leadership Award. “This year, the Chamber Board of Directors felt a special need to honor their very own president, without her knowing, because she truly deserves this recognition for all she has done.
For ten years, she has been a cornerstone of the Chamber’s Board, dedicating countless hours to our events and programs, working tirelessly behind the scenes without ever seeking credit. Her quiet strength and boundless dedication have shaped our Chamber and community alike. Beyond her role here, she serves as President-Elect of the Rotary Club, leads as Branch Manager at Hancock Whitney, and runs her own business, all while deeply committed to the community she loves.”
— Rick Nesbitt is the Eunice Ambassador of the Year. “He keeps us informed, supports local initiatives, and has given countless years of service on the Eunice Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, becoming a steady pillar of leadership for our city. But it’s not just about what he does—it’s about how he does it. His kindness, thoughtfulness, and even his famous treats remind us all of his love for Eunice and his commitment to making it a better place.”
