20-year-old driver killed in crash on La. 13

Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I troopers were notified of a two-vehicle fatality crash on La. 13 near Gradney Lane shortly after 12 a.m. on Thursday.
The crash claimed the life of 20-year-old Kimberly Thomas of Ville Platte.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Thomas, who was driving a 2013 Buick LaCrosse south on La. 13, was attempting to make a U-turn. At the same time, a 2013 Ford F-150 was also traveling south. For reasons still under investigation, the F-150 struck the left side of the Lacrosse as it was making the U-turn.
Thomas, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
A passenger in the LaCrosse and driver of the F-150, who were both unrestrained, were transported to a nearby hospital with moderate to severe injuries.
As part of the ongoing investigation, routine toxicology samples were obtained from all drivers for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
