Eunice Police are investigating a shooting that occurred at about 7 p.m. Tuesday that wounded a male, according to Police Chief Kyle LeBouef in a news release.
The shooting occurred in the 200 block of Benoit Street.
Police discovered a male had been shot in the upper arm by an unknown suspect or suspects, LeBouef stated.
“Just prior to the shooting, the victim had left his residence to run an errand. When he returned, as he was exiting his vehicle, several shots rang out and he was hit once. Witnesses reported that they saw and heard a vehicle leaving the scene in a hurry after the shots were fired,” LeBouef stated.
Eight .40 caliber shell casings were recovered from where the vehicle was seen leaving the area after the shooting.
The victim was flown to a Lafayette hospital in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries for treatment.
