The Eunice Rotary Club is accepting nominations for the 2024 Citizen of the Year Award. The award recognizes someone who has shown extraordinary community spirit and given outstanding service to the greater Eunice community in 2024, although service from other years may also be considered.
Nominations must be received on or before 6 p.m.,March 3. Nominations may be mailed to Citizen of the Year Committee, P.O. Box 221, Eunice, LA 70535,
For a person to be considered, someone must write a letter of nomination describing the nominee’s contributions to the community.
The nomination letters are read out loud to the Rotary Club members as part of the selection process. A well-written letter with details about the person nominated makes a better impact than a letter that does not explain why the nominee deserves recognition. More than one person may join together to submit a nomination. Still, the Club suggests that a letter-writing campaign with multiple letters nominating one person is less effective than one good letter signed by several people. The letters are read to the Rotary Club members before they vote.
The rules for making the selection are simple. The person nominated should have contributed substantially to the interest of our Eunice community. The award is designed to recognize service during the past year, but cumulative service over many years may also be considered.
The Citizen of the Year Committee recommends that if you nominated someone for the Award last year or some years ago and your nominee didn’t get chosen, please nominate them again for the Club to consider.
