The premiere time to be in Eunice starts Friday and continues through Tuesday as the Cajun Prairie celebrates Mardi Gras.
The five-day Cajun Mardi Gras Festival may draw up to 14,000 people for a free authentic Cajun experience.
From Friday through Tuesday 32 bands are scheduled to perform for the festival.
The events actually start before the festival begins with a Taster’s Choice fundraiser at LSUE on Wednesday for the Eunice Community Clinic.
Friday starts with the Eunice Rotary Club dedicating its Centennial Seat Wall at 11 a.m. at Park Avenue and 2nd Street.
The dedication will be followed by the reopening of the National Park Service’s Prairie Acadian Cultural Center at noon. The schedule of events for the center’s opening is elsewhere on this page.
Youngsters will stage the Lil Mardi Gras Parade at 3 p.m. Saturday.
At 3:30 p.m. the Basile Mardi Gras Association will do a presentation in downtown Eunice
A boucherie is scheduled at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Also Sunday, there will be Parade of Paws for pet owners downtown.

The Le Vieux Mardi Gras de Cajuns traditional run begins at about 8 a.m. on Mardi Gras and returns to Eunice for a parade at about 3 p.m.
Throughout the weekend, a variety of food trucks and vendors will be in operation downtown.
