Ninth annual Parade of Paws

The ninth annual Parade of Paws parade was held at 3 p.m. Sunday downtown on South 2nd Street.
Organizer and event planner Jerica Guillory held registration in front of Beaucoup for the event before the parade began. There were over 29 entries.
Canines were dressed in Mardi Gras attire and costumes. Three judges were on hand before the parade to judge winners.
Advanced registration fee was $10, and the day of the event registration was $15 for the first pup and $10 for additional pups. Doggie prizes were given courtesy of Eunice Animal Hospital.
At the conclusion of the parade, first, second, and third place winners were named and awarded cash prizes. Ribbons of winners were named, The Most Creative, Cajun Classic and Mayor’s Selection and Totally Unpredictable.
Guillory said, “We are a grassroots, volunteer-run, animal loving group of Euniceans. All proceeds go towards the winner’s prizes, and anything after that goes towards having animals spayed and neutered in our community. Donations are greatly appreciated.”
