Voters to be asked to fund juvenile facility in March 2026

A vote on a 1 cent sales tax to fund a nine-parish juvenile district is possible in March 2026, said St. Landry Parish President Jessie Bellard.
The tax must pass by a majority vote in the nine parishes to be served by the 112-bed juvenile facility is expected to raise about $80 million over a year, then the sales tax would be reduced to 0.25%, he said at Wednesday’s Eunice Rotary Club meeting.…
