A $1,000 across-the-board pay raise for St. Landry Parish public school employees advanced out of committee Tuesday to the full School Board meeting in July.
If approved, the starting pay for a teacher would rise to $43,000.
Superintendent Milton Batiste III said the pay raise is part of changing the mindset of the district to a longer view.
