The Eunice community celebrated one of its own this week as longtime Bobcat coach Paul Trosclair was honored with his selection to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026.
The recognition, which was announced during a special program at Eunice High School, marked a proud moment not only for Coach Trosclair, but for the many players, colleagues, and residents who witnessed his decades of dedication to the game and to the town.
Trosclair’s career in high school athletics spans more than 40 years across St. Landry, Allen, and Vermilion parishes. He built his reputation as a coach who valued character just as much as competition, shaping young athletes into leaders both on and off the field. His time in Eunice, however, is where his name and legacy became synonymous with Bobcat football.
Of his 246 career victories, an impressive 207 came at the helm of the Bobcats, making him the winningest coach in school history. He guided Eunice through many memorable seasons, none more celebrated than the 2018 campaign when the Bobcats claimed the Class 3A state championship. That title run is remembered in Eunice as a crowning achievement not just for the team, but for the entire community that rallied behind them.
The program at Eunice High served as a reminder of the strong bond between Trosclair and the school he called home for so many years. His influence still lingers in the halls, in the bleachers, and especially on the sidelines, where his commitment to the program has remained steadfast even in retirement.
Beyond wins and trophies, Trosclair’s legacy lies in the young men he mentored. Generations of Bobcats can recall lessons in discipline, teamwork, and perseverance that extended far beyond Friday nights under the lights. For Eunice residents, he is more than a coach; he is a symbol of dedication, consistency, and hometown pride.
The official Hall of Fame induction will take place in April 2026 in Baton Rouge, but for Eunice, the celebration has already begun. The town has long considered Trosclair a legend, and now the state will officially recognize what locals have known all along: that his career stands as one of the great chapters in Louisiana high school football history.
Coach Paul Trosclair’s Hall of Fame enshrinement shines as a reminder of what can be achieved when talent, hard work, and hometown spirit come together.
