“Out of the Darkness Suicide Awareness Walk”

The first annual Eunice’s “Out of the Darkness Suicide Awareness Walk” was held Saturday morning. The fundraiser walk was a success, and one of the organizers Jennifer Glasscock of Harmony House Counseling reported that over 400 registered participants were signed up and ready to walk and over $13,000 was raised for the The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to help reduce the rate of suicides in our community through education and prevention services that will be offered in Eunice through schools, churches and businesses. The walkers included individuals, couples, families, schools, churches, and veterans. Many registrants formed teams to walk together for the cause. Registration was held at the parking lot of the City Hall. Several different informational vendors were set up by several organizations providing the public with useful and helpful information. The purpose of the walk was to support and help reduce the rate of suicides in the community. (Photos by Myra Miller)
