A St. Landry Parish animal control employee was snared in a drug bust on Thursday.
Rasheed Saleem Rideaux, 46, of the 300 block of Azeline Drive, Opelousas, is charged with possession with intent to distribute oxycodone and Adderall.
Narcotics detectives were conducting surveillance in a targeted area when a parish animal control vehicle operated by Rideaux stopped in the driveway, according to Sheriff Bobby Guidroz in a news release.
“Rideaux was at the residence for approximately seven minutes and then drove off. Later the same afternoon, Rideaux returned to the residence, spoke outside to the home owner for about 20 minutes and then drove off,” Guidroz stated.
“Once away from the targeted area, narcotics detectives in a marked unit made a vehicle stop. A narcotics K-9 was utilized to conduct an open-air sniff on the truck and the K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 29 tablets of oxycodone and two tablets of Adderall,” he stated.
The investigation continues, he stated.
