A 12-year-old Eunice Junior High School student is charged in connection with a bomb threat at the school on Thursday.
According to Police Chief Kyle LeBouef the student is charged with communicating of false information of planned bombing on school property, a felony grade offense, and released to the custody of his parents with a pending court date.
About 9:15 a.m. police were dispatched to the school in reference to a bomb threat by a student, LeBouef stated in a news release.
“Upon the officer’s arrival, all students and faculty were following protocol and were being evacuated for safety. No threatening devices were located and the all clear was given at approximately 10:11 a.m. for the students and faculty to return to class,” he stated.
The investigation revealed a 12-year-old male student had written a note “...that he had a bomb and was going to blow up the school in five minutes. The note eventually found its way to a teacher, who in turn notified the administrative office.”
The student was identified, detained, and brought to the Eunice Police Department for further questioning in the presence of his
parents. He refused to answer any questions after consulting with his parents privately, LeBouef stated.
