Church Point voters rejected a new sales tax that would have helped fund the police department while voters in an Acadia Parish drainage district gave overwhelming support to the renewal of a property tax to support drainage operations.
In Church Point, voters were asked to add 0.5% to the existing sales tax to raise funds for the police department. The proposal failed by 28 votes.
