EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Allen Cormier announces his passing on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte. He was 76. Funeral Services will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 01, 2018 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Deacon David Guillory officiating.
Allen was the owner and operator of Allen’s Grocery and Market in Eunice from 1979 to 1986. He loved hunting, fishing, cooking, listening to Cajun music and spending his free time with his family especially his grandchildren. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, companion and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his companion of four years, Jane Daire of Ville Platte; his three sons, Mike Cormier and wife, Laura of Elton, Richard Cormier and spouse, Qui and Neal Cormier and wife, Jenny all of Eunice; his daughter, Minette Vienne and husband, Ryan of Eunice; his two sisters, Madeline Jones of Eunice and Sandy Dupont and husband, Mark of Opelousas; the seven joys of his life his grandchildren, Christopher, Tyler and Lainey Cormier, Allie and Hailey Cormier, Caroline and Sarah Claire Vienne; his two step grandsons, Hayden and John Christian Knirk; as well as extended family and friends. “The most painful goodbyes are the ones that are never said and never explained”
He is preceded in death by his wife, Pat Cormier; his son, Bernard Cormier; parents, Sidney and Eldine Arabie Cormier and his brother, Francis Cormier.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, November 30th from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Saturday, December 1st from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon David Guillory will recite a Rosary at 5:30 pm on Friday.
