EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Audrey Hebert Brown on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the age of 92 with loving family by her side. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Ardoin's Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Deacon David Guillory officiating.
Audrey was a very “feisty” lady who was born in L’Anse Bourbeuse, a community near Chataignier, LA to parents Hosea Hebert from Chataignier and Lelia Belfour Hebert from Plaisance. At the age of 12, Audrey attended the Tri-Parish Fair where she met a young Dewey J. Brown. In 1940, Audrey, age 14, and Dewey, age 19, were married in Chataignier. After serving in WWII, Dewey began his career as a pipeline welder. This began their adventure of moving from town to town, state to state. They lived in a total of 32 states and numerous towns. After moving and living in a trailer house for 14 years, they settled in Eunice. Audrey worked as a telephone operator, a nurse receptionist, received her GED, worked as a bank teller for Tri-Parish Bank, went to trade school, became a beautician and had her own shop. She was very independent, hence the title “feisty”.
Audrey will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her children, Dewey Tim Brown of Houson, TX and Sheila Brown Landreneau and husband, John Patrick of Eunice; two grandchildren, Lonny Todd Landreneau and Jody Patrick Landreneau and wife, Rene; two great grandchildren, Cole and Luke Landreneau; as well as extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Joseph Brown; parents, Hosea and Lelia Belfour Hebert; and brothers, Gerald and Nolan Hebert.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, March 26th from 3:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Wednesday, March 27th from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited by the Catholic Daughters of America, Court 208 at 6:00 pm on Tuesday.
