CHURCH POINT – Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, LA for Betty Gaspard, 68, the former Betty Ann Blanchard.
Mrs. Gaspard, a native and long-time resident of rural Acadia Parish near Richard, LA, died at noon Thursday, July19 at home surrounded by family. Deacon Byrne Winn will conduct the services with interment following in the St. Edward’s Cemetery adjacent to the church in Richard.
Betty was a kind person whose goodness was evident to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Survivors include her seven siblings: her brothers, Richard Blanchard and wife, Bernadine, of Church Point, Ronald Blanchard and wife, Paula, Kenneth Blanchard and wife, Brenda and Peter Blanchard and wife, Jann, all of Richard and Glenn Blanchard and wife, Faye, of Eunice; her sisters, Jeanel Blanchard of Richard and Agnes Richard and husband, Gregory, of Church Point; one Godchild, Allison Blanchard Reed of Eunice, LA and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Wilbur Gaspard; her parents, Jacques and Evangeline Guidry Blanchard and two nephews, Ronald James Blanchard, Jr. and Jason Schexneider.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until 10:00 PM on Saturday, July 21 and continue from 8:00 AM Sunday until the time of services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 PM on Saturday by Deacon Winn.
Pallbearers will be David Blanchard, Robbie Schexneider, Adrien Blanchard, Wesley Blanchard, Eric Ardoin, Coby Stanford, Bronson Depril, and Alex Reed. Honorary pallbearers are Timothy Sattler, Adam Blanchard, Matthew Owen, Kalum Fruge, and Brendan Matte.
