Carroll “Gene” Smith was born October 27, 1945, and passed away September 11, 2024, at the age of 78.
Gene worked 47 years for the Union Pacific Railroad, 12 of which he was the Local Chairman of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He was awarded the honor of serving as Engineer for the World’s Fair Special in New Orleans.
