Christine, a lifelong resident of Mamou, was born on March 24, 1953 to the late Roland and Joyce Fontenot Reed. Christine was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also a compassionate and generous lady who always placed the needs of others before giving any thought to herself. Her heart was truly bigger than she was. She also had an incredible sense of humor with a quick wit.
She worked at Moosa Memorial Hospital in medical records as a registered health information technician for 20 years. After her career in the medical field, Christine found her true passion when she became a teacher’s aide. Christine taught at Basile Junior High and Basile High School. She loved her students and would do anything for them. She would give more than necessary, purchasing clothes and shoes for students in need.
Christine had a gift for writing as one of her poems was published. She also sewed and quilted as she made many beautiful bows, pillowcases, and blankets. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved this beautiful lady.
Christine is survived by her husband, James Weldon Duplechin of Eunice; two sons, Zach Duplechin and wife Jeanette of Mamou, and Luke Duplechin of Eunice; one daughter, Casey Duplechin Landreneau of Eunice; five grandchildren, Connor, Caitlin, Blaine, Jacob, and Lauren; and her constant companion, her cat Nola.
Christine joins in heaven her parents, Roland and Joyce Reed.
