MAMOU – Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou, Louisiana on Monday, June 10, 2019 for Clayton “Bobby” Young, 74, who passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Savoy Care Center in Mamou. Father Billy Massie, pastor of St. Ann’s, will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct funeral services. Burial will take place in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.
Clayton “Bobby” Young was born in Mamou on December 29, 1944 to James Clifton and Gertie Savoy Young. He was truly born a dare devil that had no fear. Bobby loved anything fast. Everything he did in life, he did to the fullest and beyond. Bobby enjoyed building motorcycle and boat engines. Upon their completion he enjoyed racing them along with cars. He would crash, keep going, crash again and still keep going even with broken bones. He was the owner of Young’s Auto Cinic in Mamou. In his later years, he became a competitive fisherman and won many of the tournaments he entered.
Bobby is survived by three daughters, Saundra Guillory of Redell, Susan Ardoin of Vidrine, and Suzanne Sanders and husband Daniel of Las Meg; one son Phillip Wayne Young and wife Judy of Eunice; nine grandchildren Ben, Carolyn, and Hillary Young, Andre Guillory, Matt, Christopher, and Olivia Ardoin, and Logan and Landon Sanders; and nine great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Clifton and Gertie Savoy Young; wife, Loretta Young; brother, Burke Young; and sisters, Eura May Savant, Laura Jane Bondick, Ruby Young, and Maxie Young; and son in law ,Todd Ardoin.
In order to honor Bobby’s wishes, there will be no visitation prior to the funeral services at !0:00 AM on Monday.
