SAN ANTONIO, NE ~ Constance Billeaudeaux Young, born June 4, 1933 in the vicinity of Eunice, LA, died in her sleep at Brookdale Juan Tabo Place on December 12, 2016.
Proud ‘Prairie Cajun’ accomplished water color artist, gourmet cook, and Albuquerque resident since 1955, Connie loved to entertain and give tours at her Four Hills home. She counted many admirers from all walks of life as her close friends.
Preceding her departure were husband USAF Lt. Colonel (Ret’d) D.D. Young (they married in 1950 and he passed away 1992), and husband USAF Brig. General (Ret’d) Raymond A. Gilbert (married 1998 and he passed away 2013). Also preceding her were brothers Gene and Kenny Billeaudeaux of Lafayette, LA.
She is survived by her brother Lionel “Beau” Billeaudeaux and his wife Bobbi Himmelberger, of Brinnon, WA; daughter Daphne Young Orner and her husband Dave Orner, of Albuquerque; granddaughter Laurel Booth Christensen and her family: husband Preston Christensen and their three children Sawyer Jane (5), London Alexa (3), and Duke Edgar Christensen (9 months), of Albuquerque; grandson Dr. Jonathan Daire Orner, currently a resident at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans; and nephews Andre, Joel, Jeremy, Mathieu, Marcel, Jean-Luc, Jacques, and Philippe Billeaudeaux and niece Lisa; her deceased brothers’ wives Jane (Gene) and Margo (Ken).
The funeral was held at Grace Church, 6901 San Antonio NE on Monday, December 19. Internment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery in March.
