BASILE~A wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Elda Mae Guidry will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Elda died on Sunday, December 31, 2017 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was 81. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 04, 2018 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Entombment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father Brown Celebrant.
Elda was a Secretary for Conoco for many years and later worked for Greengate Garden Center. She loved listening to the Bee Gees and John Denver. She enjoyed humming birds, gardening, living in the country, cooking and baking. Her greatest joy in life was her family; her husband of 61 years, Lenward Guidry of Lake Charles; her three children, Michelle Ann Guidry of Lake Charles, Melanie Olsen and husband, Gary of Mobile, AL and Michael D. Guidry and wife, Brandi of Sulphur; her brother, Vernon Vallet and wife, Sonja of Oakdale; her eight grandchildren, Steven and Sara Knox, Randall and Ryan LeBlanc, Ariana Guidry, Cydnie and Laynie Ducote and Emalee Guidry and one great grandchild, Brayden Knox; as well as extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Thea Guidry Vallet.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Basile on Thursday, January 04, 2018 from 9:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 11:00 am Thursday.
