Ernst Toepfer Jr., age 84, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at 5:00 PM. at
First Baptist Church in Eunice.
At the request of the family visitation will begin on Thursday March 15, 2018 at 1:00 PM
until time of services.
Ernst is survived by his wife, Rose Toepfer, two sons; Ernst Toepfer III and wife Monica of Corpus Christy, Tx,
Randal Toepfer and wife Claire of Eunice, La., one daughter-in-law Jennifer Toepfer of Eunice, La.,
eight grandchildren; Allison Loesch and Darrin of Katy, Tx., Adam Toepfer and Yoyoi of Fort Collins, Co.,
Ernst "Chad" Toepfer IV and Jill of Corpus Christy, Tx, John Toepfer of Lafayette, La.,
Alex Toepfer and Kirsten of Eunice, La., Sara Smith and Michael of Pineville, La., Luke Toepfer of Eunice, La.,
Grace Toepfer of Eunice, La., six great grandchildren; Travis Loesch,
Ernst Toepfer V, Carson Toepfer, Kallyn Toepfer, Cooper Toepfer, Rose Marie Smith.
Ernst was preceded in death by his parents, Ernst Toepfer Sr., Alice Bieber Toepfer,
one son Darrell Toepfer and one grand-daughter, Abby Toepfer.
Ernst was born in Buffalo, New York in 1933.
He will sadly be missed as a wonderful husband of 65 years, father, grandfather, friend, Pastor,
Scuba instructor, airplane and tugboat pilot and encourager.
Ernst graduated from Crowley High School in 1950 and attended SLI in Lafayette.
Later he attended Hill County Faith Ministries Bible College.
Ernst and Rose Marie Schmeltekopf married on February 6, 1953 in Kyle, Texas.
He served his country in the U.S. Army in South Korea with the 101
Airborne Division for eighteen months.
Ernst was an interim pastor for the First Baptist Church in Crowley, Iota, Port Barre, Evangeline,
Broussard and Centerville as well as Parkerson Avenue Baptist in Crowley.
Throughout the eighty-four years, Brother Ernie, as he was affectionately known, had many occupations.
He was a salesman for Universal Supply in Crowley, owner of Triangle Shell Company, taxidermist, gun smith,
real estate broker, scuba diver instructor and a welder's helper at Toepfer Manufacturing.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Eunice Manor, Acadian Medical Center staff and Heart of Hospice
for the care giving and kindness.
Quirk and Son Funeral Home in Eunice is in charge of the arrangements.
