It is with great sadness that the family of Essie J. Common announces her passing on Saturday, January 18 at 2:57 p.m. at the Eunice Manor Nursing Home in Eunice. She was 88.
A celebration of life will be celebrated on Saturday, January 25 at 2 p.m. at St. Mathilda Catholic Church in Eunice. Interment will be at St. Mathilda Cemetery with Rev. Clement of St. Mathilda Catholic Church officiating.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 25 from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at St. Mathilda's Bishop Ceaser Center. A rosary will be prayed at 12 noon.
Essie was known for her faithful church attendance, sewing, cooking, watching TV, and spending time with her family and friends.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her sons, Freddie Common of Eunice, Joshua Common Sr. of Lake Charles, Larry Common of Hephzibah, Georgia, and Preston Common of Basile, her daughters, Lerrie Rougeau of Lake Charles, Mary Jones of Lake Charles, and Lisa Hopkins of Brentwood, Tennessee, her sister, Alice Rougeau of Lake Charles, 23 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Alcemia and Eva Janice, and one daughter Barbara Common.
Pall bearers will be Larry Common, Preston Common, Kalvin Common, Sean Hopkins, Nicholas Common and Zach Hager.
Frank Brothers Funeral Home in Eunice is in charge of all arrangements.
