A memorial service for Esther Salassi, 92, of Eunice, will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Quirk and Son Funeral Home with burial following at St. Louis Cemetery, Eunice, LA. Visitation will precede the memorial service from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM in the same funeral home.
Esther Salassi went to be with her Lord on Monday, May 13, 2019 in the Eunice Manor Nursing facility, a caring and loving community in Eunice, Louisiana. From her birth in Eunice on October 12, 1926 to her death on May 13, 2019 she nourished people around her with love, faith, and music. Esther married Ray Salassi on March 13, 1949 in Eunice, Louisiana. The young couple faithfully served the congregation of Emmanuel Baptist Church during their life together. Left to honor Esther and remember her love and faith are Esther and Ray’s three children; William Salassi and spouse Kaye of Houston, TX; Frederick Salassi and spouse Cyndi of Euless, TX; Catherine Tabberer and spouse Steve of Willis, TX; eight grandchildren; Brennan Salassi, Ashley Salassi Hunker, Jonathan Salassi, Jacob Salassi, Hannah Salassi, Heather Velasco, Matthew Tabberer and Daniel Tabberer; six great-grandchildren; Emilia Salassi, Lila Salassi, Margaux Salassi, Brody Velasco, Owen Velaso and Kaleb Velasco; three sisters, Mary Eason, Viola Gelt, Margie D'Aville; and one brother, Hilton Cormier; as well as many nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, sisters, Alma, Laura, Lily and brothers, Ben, Lawrence and Russell. Esther will be remembered as a bright, shining light in the church she served.
