Church Point, LA ~ Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 5, 2017, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Richard, LA, for Evangeline Guidry Blanchard, 85. Mrs. Blanchard, a life-long resident of Richard, died Thursday morning, March 2, at Park Place Surgical Hospital in Lafayette, LA, surrounded by family. Father Austin Leger will conduct the services with interment following in St. Edward Cemetery.
Survivors include her eight children: her sons, Richard Blanchard and wife, Bernadine, of Church Point, Ronald Blanchard and wife, Paula, Kenneth Blanchard and wife, Brenda, and Peter Blanchard and wife, Jann, all of Richard, and Glenn Blanchard and, wife, Faye of Eunice; her daughters, Betty Gaspard and Jeanel Blanchard of Richard and Agnes Richard and husband, Gregory, of Church Point; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Jacques Blanchard; her parents, Elvin Guidry and Marie Leger; two grandsons, Ronald James Blanchard, Jr. and Jason Schexneider; three brothers, Robert, Charlie, and Milton Guidry and two sisters, Loretta and Delores Crochet.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm on Saturday, March 4 and continue at 8:00 am Sunday until the time of the services.
A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 pm Saturday by Father Leger.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth, Glenn, David, Adam, and Wesley Blanchard and Robbie Schexneider.
Evangeline was a devoted wife and mother. Her grandchildren were the joys of her life.
