EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts that the family of George H. Rider announces his passing on Thursday, August 23, 2018 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 85. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Ashford Cemetery with Deacon David Guillory officiating.
George enjoyed gardening, sitting outside relaxing, watching his ducks and chickens. He loved driving his tractor and going to casino but most of all he was a loving father, step father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. George's memory will live on in all who loved him, especially his sons, Alvin Rider and wife, Marbella of Commerce City, CO, Sean Rider and wife, Amy of Eunice; step sons, Dwayne Manuel, Vincent, Patrick and Eric Conde; daughters, Marcella Prejean and husband, Darryl of Eunice and Missy Joubert and husband, Cecil of Mamou; step daughter, Connie Conde; a sister, Jane Dodd of Kinder; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Melba C. Rider; parents, Howard and Delia Fruge Rider; daughter, Mary Rider, stepson, Frank Conde; sisters, Bonnie Heinen and Mercedes Rider, and granddaughter Dori Conde.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, August 24th from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Saturday, August 25th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon David Guillory will lead a Rosary at 6:00 pm on Friday.
