EUNICE~Helen Tanner passed away in the comfort of her home on Friday June 08, 2018 at the age of 95 with loving family by her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday June 12, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Father Tom Voorhies Celebrant.
Helen was born on May 12, 1923 in Goudeaux, LA to her parents Claire Werner and Edwin Peirre Rabalais. Helen lived a full life raising five children and was very proud of helping each one get a college education. In addition to serving her family, she was active in the community, volunteering in the Hospital Auxiliary as a Pink Lady for 40 years, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America since 1962, a member of the Ladies Altar Society, Omega Group, Northwest Vocation Club, Eunice Garden Club as well as a volunteered for the Crowley Mental Outreach Program for 29 years. Helen served the church in Perpetual Adoration and was a Eucharistic Minster to Shut-ins. She was a most loving, caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends. Helen's memory will live on in all who loved her, especially her five children, Donald Tanner and spouse, Carolyn of Lafayette, Cynthia Tanner of Eunice, Debra Manuel and spouse, Pat of Eunice, Danelle Tanner and spouse, Wendy of Albuquerque, NM and Brian Tanner and spouse, Becky of Eunice; the ten joys of her life her grandchildren, Don B. Tanner, Stephanie Peper, Rachel Tanner Young, Ed Manuel, Brett Manuel, Vance Tanner, Andrei Tanner, Michael Tanner, Sally Deville and Millie Rider; her fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Donald Vance Tanner; siblings, Edwin Rabalais, Jr. Frances Rabalais Johnson, Earl Rabalais and Clyde Rabalais.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Monday, June 11th from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Tuesday, June 12th from 10:00 am until time of services. Deacon Chuck Ortego will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm on Monday.
