Henry Gerald Frey passed away Saturday, August 4th, 2018. Gerald was born in Iota, Louisiana on February 4th, 1938. He attended Iota High School where he excelled in football. Gerald went to LSU in the fall of 1958 to play football.
He and Phyllis Ruppert were married on December 5th, 1959. While attending LSU, Gerald was part of the 1958 LSU National Championship team. (Sugar Bowl). He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science attending USL in Lafayette, LA.
Gerald and Phyllis moved to Hollandale, MS in 1963 farming rice and soybeans. He lived for fanning and had a deep appreciation for the land. Gerald had a love of hunting and fishing but his real passion was entertaining friends and family with his delicious Cajun cuisine. He was well known for his cooking and cooking great food brought a smile to his face.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry L. Frey and Ester Frey as well as his brother Kenneth L, Frey and sister Kathleen Frey.
His loving wife Phyllis, of 58 years of marriage, children Brent Frey and wife Tammy of Louisville, MS, Melissa Lucero and husband Ray of Montrose, Co, Karla Toler and husband Luke of Pass Christian, MS, survive him. Siblings Pat Frey and wife Jean of Greenville, MS, Mary Grace Edwards and husband Jeff of Glen Allan, MS and 10 grandchildren, David Frey, Stewart Hemphill, Cole Lucero, Madison Lucero, Dillon Toler, Dean Toler, Eugene Toler, Abigail Toler, Ashlynn Toler and Jon Owen Toler, also survive him.
There are also six Great Grandchildren. Gerald and Phyllis are members of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hollandale, MS. Memorials for Gerald may be sent to 8t. Jude Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105
