EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Henry Louis Leger announces his passing on Saturday, June 09, 2018 at MD Anderson in Houston with loving family by his side. He was 73. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 11:00 am at Our Lady Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Chataignier. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Carmel Mausoleum with Father Darren Eldridge Celebrant.
Henry, also known as S.O.C., served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was on the Board of Louisiana One Call, a member of the NRA, and was also an Honor Air chaperone. Henry enjoyed collecting antiques and caring for the Purple Martins that came each year. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his wife of twenty years, Anna Stanford Leger of Chataignier; four sons, Robert Leger and wife, Holly of Broussard, Richard Leger and wife, Angela of Carencro, Douglas Leger and wife, Holly of Youngsville; and Philip Leger of Breaux Bridge; one step son, Jonathan C. Vidrine and wife, Angela of Chataignier; two daughters, Karen King and husband, Jeffery of Austin, TX and Allison Leger of Breaux Bridge; two step daughters, Janet Armand and Leslie Fontenot and husband, Dwayne, all of Chataignier; brother, Keith Leger of Lake Arthur; sisters, Rita McKenzie and husband, Alexander of Lafayette and Venice Byler and husband, Richard of Lake Arthur; six grandchildren, Isabelle, Joy, Jane, Elise, Hannah, and Benette; as well as extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Marie Druilhet Leger; and sister, Anita Leger Mouton.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Wednesday, June 13th from 2:00pm until 9:00pm, and again on Thursday, June 14th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Chuck Ortego will recite a Rosary at 6:00pm Wednesday.
