MAMOU – Memorial Services will be held at 7:00 PM at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Saturday, January 25, 2020, for James Carroll “JC” Fontenot, 86, who passed away peacefully on January 17, 2020 in Mamou, LA surrounded by his loving family.
Deacon Chuck Ortego will conduct service.
James Carroll “JC” Fontenot was born on September 7, 1933 in Eunice, LA to Dudley and Mamie Ortego Fontenot. JC was a very proud graduate of Vidrine High Class of 1954. His class built the podium that is still being used at the school. A lifelong resident of Vidrine, JC began farming Rice and Soybeans after graduating high school. He later worked for H&S Construction where he specialized in the building of roads. JC enjoyed spending time outdoors. In his younger days he was an avid duck hunter. He had a very large garden that produced an abundance of produce. He was known for always sharing the garden vegetables with his family and friends. Family was very important to JC. He adored his grandchildren, and he loved spending time with them.
JC leaves behind to cherish his memories his son, Shawn Fontenot and wife Erin; three grandchildren, Brady, Addison, and Evan Fontenot; and sister, Jeanette Thibodeaux.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dudley and Mamie Ortego Fontenot; and brother, JY Fontenot.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
