James Raymond Sonnier
Eunice~It is with heavy hearts that the family of James Raymond Sonnier announces his passing on Friday, June 21, 2019 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 70. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Ardoin's Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating.
James proudly served in the United States Navy and retired as a Tugboat Captain. He loved fishing and was a local handyman. A loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him especially his loving wife of fifty one years, Consolacion Sonnier of Basile; his three loving children, Theresa Guillory of Seattle, WA, Ramon Sonnier of Milton, FL and Lusing Sonnier of Basile; his brothers, Rodney Sonnier and wife, Juanita of Lawtell, Irving Sonnier and wife, Patsy of Church Point, Lerlyn Sonnier and wife, Romona of Opelousas; brother-in-law, Adam Doucet, JR and wife, Barbara of Church Point; his sister, Belle Manuel of Eunice; his nine joys of his life, his grandchildren, Lauren Chapman, Ashley Wallace, Dedrick Chapman, Uriah Wallace, Kayley Sonnier, Savannah Sonnier, Abigail Sonnier, Madison Jackson, and Cera-Michael Tatmon; his five great grandchildren, Azariah Chapman, Legend Richardson, Dalyce Chapman, Kynadalyn Rideaux and Hadley Wallace; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Remi and Lula Fontenot Sonnier; brother, Aaron Sonnier and his wife, Anna; his sister, Lucy S. Doucet and his brother-in-law, Bradley Manuel.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Sunday, June 23rd from 10:00 am until 11:00 pm and again on Monday, June 24th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm on Sunday.
