Jeffrey Jerome Fruge, a resident of Eunice, La, passed away in his home on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at the age of 66 after a long battle with a very rare brain disease. He was surrounded by his loving wife, children, grandchildren and friends. Jeffrey was in the fire service for 46 years and loved to serve his community. He was a lifetime member of Acadia Parish Fire District 4, a former volunteer chief of St Landry Parish Fire District 6 for 10 years, as well as a past member of the city of Eunice Fire Department for many years. Jeffery enjoyed life, family and friends to the fullest and was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was a person of faith and lived a life of service to his community. Jeffery will be missed dearly but never forgotten.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 1:30 PM at St Thomas More Catholic Church with Father Clinton Sensat celebrant. Burial will follow in St Thomas More Cemetery.
At the request of family, visitation will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020 from 1:00 PM until 10:00 PM at Quirk and Son Funeral Home of Eunice with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM by Deacon Wayne Chapman. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 8:00 AM until time of Services.
Jeffery is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mona Chapman Fruge; three daughters, Laci Fruge, Mandi Douget and husband Luke, Megan Reed and husband Dustin; one sister, Becky Fruge; eight grandchildren, Austin, Riley, Lannie, Avery, Blake, Hunter, Abram and Paysli.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lannie and Gertrude Daigle Fruge; one brother, Terry Fruge.
