EUNICE~It is with the heaviest hearts that the family of Jim Adkins announces his passing on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Lafayette General Medical Center with loving family by his side. He was 71. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Ardoin's Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chris Frey officiating.
Jim, a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Airforce and also a longtime member of the American Legion, VFW and DAV. He worked for the Federal Prison, St. Landry Parish Sheriff Department as a Sergeant and was currently working for the Eunice Police Department as a jailer. His hobbies were, listening to music, playing pool and woodworking. A proud, caring man, he will be greatly missed by everyone he touched. Jim leaves behind his wife, Elmarie Barzare Adkins; his three stepchildren, Angie McCune and husband, Craig of Lake Charles, Joey Cormier and wife, Marie of Eunice and Blake Cormier of Houston; seven grandchildren, Kelli Thibodeaux, Heather Burton, Kayla LeJeune, Katie Cormier, Brent Cormier, Alex Cormier and Amber Cormier; fifteen great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Marjorie Barnes Adkins.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, March 21st from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Friday, March 22nd from 8:00 am until time of services.
