EUNICE–It is with heavy hearts that the family of John “Ricky” Gorley announces his passing on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at his home in Kingwood, Texas at the age of 64.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Hampton Davis, Celebrant and assisted by Deacon Gary Gaudin.
John, known as “Ricky” by all, worked with his parents and family at their local food mart in his early years before starting his career at Union Tank Car in Ville Platte as a welder and later, a supervisor.
Ricky pursued an education and career in safety management later in life, which led him to his role as a safety manager for Tanner Construction in Eunice before working as a project safety manager for Traylor Bros., Inc. This role took him around the country, from New Orleans to New York, before eventually relocating for a project in Houston, where he was excited to rejoin his family.
Ricky’s passions included traveling and riding his motorcycle, but most of all, he loved spending quality time with his grandchildren and family. Ricky will be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of over 43 years, Gwendolyn Frey Gorley of Kingwood, TX; his daughters, Shellie Gorley Hallum and husband, Travis and Kristen Gorley Kean and husband, William, all of Kingwood, TX; his brothers, Randy Gorley and wife, Nancy of Pensacola, FL and Marcus Gorley of Eunice; his four grandchildren, Adelyn Miller, Alexander Hallum, Liam Hallum, and Reese Kean; as well as extended family and friends.
Ricky is preceded in death by his parents, Troy Jerry and Murris Ann Vidrine Gorley.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Wednesday, February 9 from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m., and again on Thursday, February 10 from 10 a.m. until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will pray a Rosary at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
