EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts that the family of Johnny Lyons announces his passing on Friday, October 12, 2018 in the comfort of his home with loving family by his side. He was 75. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday, October 15, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Msgr. Robert Romero Celebrant.
John Bernard Lyons was born on June 28, 1943 to Quentin and Bertha Barrouse Lyons. He was a 1962 graduate of St. Edmund High School and in December of 1962 he married Diana Marie Miller and had three children. Johnny proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years during the Vietnam War. He became an electrician and started his own business Lyons Electric for 35 years which his grandson, Landen will carry on the Lyons Electric legacy. His passion was his work and his family and he was an avid hunter.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his loving wife of almost four years, Oneita Kratzer Lyons of Eunice; his three children, Yvette L. Bae and husband, Ronnie of Eunice, Monette L. Soileau and fiancé, Brad Hanks of Plaquemine and Brett Lyons and wife, Erica of Eunice; stepdaughter, Jessica K. Fontenot and husband, Brandon of Grand Prairie; his brother, J. C. Lyons of Eunice; his sisters, Marie L. Johnson of Baton Rouge, Brenda L. Brown of Eunice and Gerry L. Lavergne of Swords; the four joys of his life his grandchildren, Alexander Soileau, Allison S. Cross, Landen and Lathan Lyons; a step grandson, Eddie Joseph Fontenot; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Diana Miller Lyons; his parents; and his brother, Ferdinand Lyons.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Monday, October 15, 2018 from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm on Sunday.
