EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lacy John Slocum announces his passing on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria with family by his side. He was 84. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2019 at Ardoin's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Pastor Terry Hoychick officiating.
Lacy proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was an artist and phenomenal oil painter who had a creative sense of humor and enjoyed watching old Western movies. He was a coordinator and coach for the Girl’s Softball Team and he also enjoyed his weekly card game with friends. Lacy had a kind, gentle heart, never met a stranger, and was a friend to all. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Lacy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Y. Slocum of Eunice; son, Ellis R. Slocum and wife, Heather of Eunice; daughter, Brandy E. Fontenot and husband, Bryan of Mamou; seven grandchildren, Tiffney Bergeron, Caleb Bergeron, Jacob Guidry, Isaac Slocum, Kross Fontenot, Alec Miller, and Ashton Miller; one great grandson, Silas Morris; and his best friend, Jasper Manuel; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his daughters, LaDean Slocum and Penny Slocum Bergeron; parents, Ellis and Doris Armand Slocum; brother, Steve Slocum; and sister, Beryl Slocum Normand.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, June 27th from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Friday, June 28th from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. on Thursday evening by Kerry and Loretta Reviere.
