BASILE~It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lionel L. LeJeune announces his passing on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the Jeff Davis Living Center in Jennings at the age 97. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Ardoin's Funeral Home Chapel in Basile. Burial will follow in the Langley Cemetery with Deacon Chuck Ortego officiating.
Lionel was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and attained many service awards. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. In his past, he was an Evangeline Parish Sheriff Deputy, a TV repairman for 25 years in Basile; and was a member of the Re-Treads Motorcycle Club. Lionel always had a very special place in his heart for his grand babies. He will by missed dearly by all who knew and loved him, especially by one of the mother’s of his children, Shirley D. Landry of Missouri; three sons, Troy LeJeune and wife, Stephanie of Oakdale, Larry LeJeune and wife, Denise of Duralde, and Steven LeJeune and wife, Keli of Kinder; five daughters, Gayle LeJeune of Osceola, TX, Delilah Burley and husband, Acey of Basile, Nell Pryor and husband, Ned of Crowley, Tammy Manuel and husband, Eric of Basile, Annette Conrad and husband, Chris of Basile; brother, Bobby LeJeune and wife, Priscilla of Beaumont, TX; sister, Helen Joffrion of Dequincy; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Nell LeJeune; parents, Ollie and Mary Fruge LeJeune; his other children’s mother, Lelia Mae Eaves; brothers, Ollie, Orie, and Dewey LeJeune, and Rodney Johnson; sisters, Molly Hummel and Irene Bossley; and two grandsons, Brent Burley and Jacob Rougeau.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Basile on Tuesday, September 24th from 9:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Wednesday, September 25th from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 6:00 pm by Deacon Chuck Ortego.
