EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Mary Alice “Bijo” Wedlock Fontenot announces her passing on Friday, July 05, 2019 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was 74. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 07, 2019 at Ardoin's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Pastor Kevin West officiating.
Mary, known as Bijo to all, loved flowers and to cook, but most of all she loved to dance to Cajun and French music. Mardi Gras was her #1 favorite holiday and she never missed Mardi Gras festivities. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Linda Breaux and husband, Tony of Butte La Rose; brothers, Willie Wedlock of Ville Platte and Sam Wedlock of Nashville, TN; sisters, Valle Dupre and husband, Wayne of Ville Platte, Rose Duren and husband, Ray of Eunice, and Priscilla Fontenot and husband, James of Ville Platte; four grandchildren, April DeVillier, Makin Breaux, Jessica Cox, and Brock Anthony Breaux; thirteen great grandchildren; her companion, James Ronald Dupre of Breaux Bridge; son in-law, Terry L. Guillory of Eunice; as well as extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Wayne Fontenot; daughter, Sandra Faye Ortego; parents, Evans and Leonise Latiolais Wedlock; brothers, Leas, Hubert “Red”, and Evans Wedlock; and sister, Shirley Dupre.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on
Saturday, July 6th from 1:00 pm until time of services on Sunday, July 7th. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Saturday evening by Deacon Gary Gaudin.
