EUNICE – Funeral services for Mary “Boogalou” Johnson Jones, 65, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Word Ministries in Eunice with the visitation observed from 8 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Eunice. Pastor Kayla Givs will officiate the funeral ceremony.
On Thursday, November 18, 2021, the Angels of the Lord descended on Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette, with special orders in hand, to escort Mary to her eternal home.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons Marcus Johnson and Vernon (Markeisha) Johnson of Douglasville, Georgia, and Dustin (Christy) Johnson of Eunice, two daughters: Quentella (Dawin) Gallien of Eunice, and Cliffany (Craig) Garrison of Carencro, 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her father Willie Johnson of Eunice, three sisters Diana Morgan, Caroline (Paul) Thomas and Geraldine Fontenot all of Eunice, four brothers Aaron (Janet) Johnson and John (Lisa) Vallery both of Baton Rouge, Floyd (Kathleen) Johnson of Viera, Florida and Lloyd Johnson of Eunice, one auntMary Sears of Houston, Texas, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son Travous D. Johnson, her mother Henrietta Johnson, one brother Willis Johnson; her maternal grandparents Alcee and Salvia Citizen Vallery; and her paternal grandparents: Joseph Johnson and Mildred Riggs Johnson.
Owens-Thomas Funeral Home of Eunice is in charge of arrangements.
