FORT WORTH~Mary Godwin Andrews, 85, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Fort Worth. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

She was born July 6, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to William Russell Godwin and Helene Estella Brasted. Mary was reared in Lake Charles, La., and attended St. Charles Academy. She married C.J. Andrews Jr. on July 14, 1950.
Mary and C.J. experienced a blending of cultures while living in the Cajun country of South Louisiana and later relocated to North Texas. They enjoyed attending sporting events, the arts, museums and traveling the world. Mary’s favorite interests were family, church and education.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and a Masters degree in Education from LSU.
Mary devoted her life to teaching early education in Louisiana and Birdville ISD. After serving 19 years with BISD, she concluded her career as an elementary school counselor in 1997.
Mary had many passions including participation in the ESL program at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and mentoring students in local schools. She was also active as a Stephen’s Minister, member of P.E.O. and DAR. She volunteered at the Fort Worth Science and History Museum and Bass Hall. Mary also enjoyed involvement with local book clubs and was active in the Colleyville Women’s Club and First United Methodist Church Fort Worth.
Mary was a wife, caregiver to her husband of 49 years, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.
Survivors include, Brother, Frederick Russell Godwin; three children, Charley J. Andrews III and wife, Cynthia, Mary Elizabeth Crockett and husband, Jim, and Kathryn Denise Anderton and fiance, Darren Lackey; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a multitude of friends.
