On Friday, October 1, 2021, the Lord extended His hand and said come my faithful servant and he answered His voice and followed our Lord’s path.
Melven Clark Sr. was born on December 25, 1951 to the union of Clarence Clark and Orelia Slaugter. Melven accepted Christ and was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Dennis Gotreaux until his transformation.
Melven drove trucks while working in the oilfield for many years and loved working outside in his yard, cleaning and finding things to do everyday.
His favorite past time was watching his favorite westerns and going to bed for 5:30 in the afternoon faithfully.
He was joined in holy matrimony to Eva Mae Stevens on March 13, 1976 for the past 45 years. To this union they had six children, four daughters, Takora (Vincent) Spencer, Tamara Stevens, Keatha (Michael) Poullard, and Mykeishia Clark; two sons, Melvin Clark Jr. and Marlon (Demetrica) Clark., seventeen grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. One sister, Helen Dupre; three great friends, Leonce Washington, Paul Washington, and Walter Stevens, a cousin who was more like a sister, Linda Clark; four special nephews, Horace Dupre, Clarence Dupre, Joseph Sam, and Jessie Edwards. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Orelia Clark; two sisters, AnaBelle Sam, Mary Belle Clark; two brothers, Wilson and George Clark; mother-in-law Georgia Stevens; three grandchildren, Keya and Warren Poullard, and Deamontae Clark.
His visitation will be Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 9 a.m. with his funeral following at 11 a.m., at New Zion Baptist Church, located at 251 Nimitz Street, in Eunice. Elder Marlon Clark will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery under the direction of James/Braxton Funeral Home.
