EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the loss of their loved one, Merita Miller Aucoin on Wednesday, October 02, 2019 at Eunice Manor Nursing Home at the age of 83. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 04, 2019 in the Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Reed Cemetery in L’anse Meg with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating.
Merita loved gardening and sewing, but she was most passionate about playing Bourre’. She also enjoyed visiting all of her children on Sundays. Merita is survived by her sons, Marcus Aucoin, Anthony Aucoin and wife, Marie, and Peter Aucoin and wife, Alicia, all of L’anse Meg; daughters, Connie Hart of Zachary, and Jackie Bellard and husband, Bobby of L’anse Meg; sister, Melva Stringer and husband, Glenn of Baton Rouge; nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rappson Aucoin; parents, Moise and Virginia Leger Miller; and brothers, Ronald, William, Gary, and Francis Miller.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, October 3rd from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Friday, October 4th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm on Thursday.
