It is with heavy hearts that the family of Murphy Michael LaFleur Jr. aka “Spike” LaFleur announce his passing on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana. He was 48 years old.
Visitation will take place at Quirk and Son Funeral Home on Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will reopen on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at 8 a.m. until time of services. A funeral service will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Eunice on April 29, 2018, at 1 p.m. Entombment will follow at St. Paul Mausoleum with Deacon Daniel Besse officiating.
Spike was married twice … first to Celeste DeJean. They are the proud parents of three grown children; Alyssa Marie, LaFleur Jeanne Marie LaFleur and Murphy Michael LaFleur III. They are also blessed with three grandchildren; Mallory, age 8, Aiden age 6 and Karson 7 months old. He and his second wife, Sarah, are proud parents of Lillian Elizabeth LaFleur, who is 12 years old.
He is survived by his parents, Murphy Michael LaFleur Sr. and Rosemary Welch LaFleur, as well as one brother, Gregory Calvin LaFleur.
Spike is a veteran who served in the Army National Guard for five years as a medic. He was an EMT and also worked as a restaurant manager as well as a long distance truck driver for many years.
His favorite foods were ice cream, hamburgers and bologna sandwiches.
He loved his family and friends dearly. He loved music and conversation. He had many loyal friends and will be missed by all who knew him.
