EUNICE~It is with great sadness that the family of Permelia “Sis” Laughlin announces her passing on Tuesday, September 04, 2018 at the Landmark of Acadiana in St. Martinville at the age of 96. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 12:30 pm on Friday, September 07, 2018 at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Pilgrim Rest Cemetery with Pastor Orville Rogers officiating.
Permelia known to many as “Sis” was a 1939 graduate of Church Point High School. After graduation she moved to New Orleans at the age of 19 and worked at D.H. Holmes. She took pride in her work and retired from Lykes Brothers Shipping Company after 25 years and the University of New Orleans after 26 years. Sis's memory will live on in all who loved her, especially her brother, Bill Laughlin and wife, Mira of Richard and a sister, Versie L. Foti of Lafayette; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Morris Laughlin and Dovie Rena Johnson; step-mother, Maggie Laughlin; her brother, Vira Laughlin; two sisters, Martha “Sue” Vivian Vilcan and Emogene Hammon.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, September 7th from 9:00 am until time of services.
Pallbearers carrying her to her final resting place are Bryan Hammon, Brycen Hammon, Wayne Vilcan, Billy Laughlin, Morris Laughlin and Jimmy Poirier. Honorary pallbearers include her brother, Bill Laughlin, and Grant Schlueter.
