BASILE~It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Rita "June" Bergeaux announces her passing on Sunday, February 02, 2020 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was 55. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 06, 2020 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Burial will follow in the Reed Cemetery with Father Keenan Brown Celebrant.
Rita, or "June" as she was affectionately called by family and friends was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing, but she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by many, but none more than her husband of twenty eight years, Darrell Bergeaux of Tee Mamou, her sons, James Bergeaux and wife, Lisa of Evangeline and Jeramy Bergeaux and wife, Courtney of Eunice; her two daughters, Virginia Doucet and husband, Jason of Basile and Katie Bergeaux of Jennings; two brothers, Joseph Janice and wife, Bertha of Eunice and Michael Janice and wife, Mary Ann of Jennings; one sister, Zula Ann Istre and husband, Glen of Gueydan; twenty grandchildren, Ronald "R.J.", Deuce, Joseph, Noah, Hunter, Hayden, Alex, Rachael, Kaleb, Nicholas, Colleen, Dakota, Skyla, Maximus, Dustin, Alyssa, Landon, Logan, Caden and Kali. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her. We will miss her every day.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Zula Henry Janice; granddaughters, Eleanore Doucet and Riely Raeanne Doucet; brothers, Paul and Glenn Paul Janice and sisters, Bertha June Janice and Mary Jane Deshotel.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile on Wednesday, February 5th from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm and again on Thursday, February 6th from 8:00 am until time of services. Lady Altar Society will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm on Wednesday.
Carrying June to her eternal resting place will be Dustin Doucet, Trevor Bergeaux, Richard "Richie" Bergeaux, Jr., Jerrod " Deuce" Benoit, Brendan Iler and Patrick Bergeaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Doucet, Dale Hughes, III and Richard Bergeaux, Sr.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, and for those who desire, memorial donations may be made to the family.
